New Toys

Hey peeps! Sorry for the lateness of it all! We got back late from our date, and I just didn't feel like blogging :) It was a good day yesterday. Got the kids off to the bus, and Paul and Carol and I went to Walmart before the mad rush that is Friday in El Paso. hehe. We had a few things on our list. Then off to Fallas for a baby gift for someone at CPT's work.

Then back home in time to get ready for couples counseling. We had to be over on the West side by 11am. We were a bit late, but still made it. It was a good session. Each day gets better and better. It's gotten good since he went back to work. I think that men need to be at work. ROLF!

After the session, we went to El Taco Tote for lunch. Instead of brochetta, CPT got different kinds of tacos, and I got chicken enchiladas. SO yummy! We ate, then headed back to post. CPT dropped me off at the house, and he headed back to work. Carol was taking a nap, and Paul and I hung for about an hour, then I took a nap for about an hour too. It felt like I just barely closed my eyes, and it was time to go and get the kids from the bus. I wonder if I'm getting sick? You know how you get more sleepy when you're sick? Who knows...

Anyway, I went to the bus stop and picked up the kids at 3:30 and stayed and chatted with Kari and Julia until around 4, then came back home. The kids were having fun playing with Paul and Carol. They are AWESOME grandparents! We did chores for about an hour, then had dinner at 5pm. We had started a roast and veggies at around 10:30. SUPER yummy :)

CPT got home around 6pm, and the boys started a game of RISK. CPT showed them how to play. Carol and I hung, and the other kids had electronics time. After the kids got the hang of RISK, CPT and i went on date night. We went to Bassett center, and hung at Target for a while, then went to the movie theater and saw Gone. And I really enjoyed it! It was set in the Pacific Northwest! My home area :) hehe. Gotta love it.

We got home around 11pm, and chatted with Paul for about 30 minutes. And yeah, that's why there was not blogging. hehe. So, there ya go. I blogged now. BUT, I got my new/used iPad yesterday! It came from eBay! I was pretty excited! I charged it up, and it was all good! I played on it this morning, and it's all good!!!! Woohoo! New toy :)

My Happy Place

New releases in the store! Yippee!!! Click HERE to go to the store to get a chance to pick up the new stuff! I know you're just SO excited! hehe :) All layouts by Sharon, who is on Vacation at Disney for 2 weeks!!!! Lucky duck!!!!

Hey there you guys! Sorry about the skipping yesterday! hehe. My inlaws got in at 10:30pm, and we were up late chatting. And before that, I was cleaning ALL day long! And we had piano for Eme at 4pm, and then the Pinewood Derby at 6:30pm. Man, it was a mad dash to get ready.

Anyway, we were all ready for bed around midnight, and hit the pillow and were asleep. CPT was awake and gone before I got up (to PT), and my alarm went off at 6:45am. The kids were SO excited to go in and see Grammie and Grandpa Harty. At 7am, right before Tom left for for school, I let them go in and see them. Joe needed his backpack and Jim needed his shoes (they were staying in their room). They were SO excited!!!

We got the kids ready, and spent the morning at home. Carol and I played in my Miche purses, and I ordered her a Classic bundle, cause I like her - hehe. Plus, she can take it back home, and show it off to everyone! It was a nice, low keyed, relaxing morning. We eventually showered and got ready for the day, filled up the Suburban, and headed over to the East Side to meet the girls at Olive Garden.

Kari and Laura (Kari's friend from Leo's party on Saturday) and Maggie and Hannah and Kim and Julia and me and Paul and Carol were there. We had a ton of fun eating soup and salad and breadsticks. I was SUPER hungry! hehe. Olive Garden was DEFINITELY the place to go, too! And somehow, I managed to get out of there without taking any pictures! I was off of my groove, I think! What's up with that???

Then it was off to Savers. Carol got a few things, and I got a new brown Nike zipper hoodie (emergency sweatshirt - it was COLD today!) and some teal sparklie shoes and some Steve Madden slippers. Good Savers day! I used my 30% off coupon, too!

Then, we headed back to the bus, and made it just in time. We collected the kids, and went back home to get ready for Ice skating. CPT got home at the same time as we did, and he took an advanced party to the skating rink. Eme and Joe and Leo and Paul and CPT headed out to go skating, and I followed behind with Tom and Jim and and Jake and Carol. We were so slow that Jake was off of the bus! hehe. It was his first time getting to go skating this year :) He was mildly excited for it.

We did get there pretty late, though. It was about 30 minutes into it, and the dude who was passing out the skates was already gone. Tom managed to track him down, but Jake doesn't have very good people skills, and got super mad and grouchy about it. He stormed off, but eventually cooled off. He needed to go and talk to the guy about getting the skates, and he didn't want to. He eventually did, and got to skate for about 10 minutes. He was happy when we left, though. So it must have all worked out.

Carol and Paul and I got to sit and visit. Jim decided to just not skate. Whatever. If he wasn't to sit and chat with Grandpa Hary, more power to him. Works for me :) We really did have a good time.

After skating, we all stopped at McDonalds on the way home and had Sundaes. Chocolate ones and strawberry ones and caramel ones and plain ones. They were SUPER yummy! We eventually got back home, dropped Leo off, and I sat down to do my weekly work, and CPT cooked some soup for everyone. The kids did their homework (Grammie and Grandpa Harty helped), then we watched a Civil War DVD with CPT. After my store was loaded, I snuggled next to CPT on the couch and took a nap.

I woke up at 8:30 when the show was over and helped get the kids to bed. And by that I mean that I yelled "Harty kids, time for bed", and they all went to their various sleeping locations. hehe. Yeah, it's nice to have older kids - ha!

CPT and Paul spent the evening discussing stuff from the video, and Carol and I painted nails. I did her fingernails a pretty light shade of dark pink, and I did my toes silver. We watched part of the Temple Grandin movie, and then it was time for CPT to go to bed, so we all called it a night. It's now 10:56pm. I need to "secure the premises", and then it'll be time for bed for me too. Night, y'all! See you in the morning!!!

Run Ragged

So yeah, I'm feeling a little run ragged today! CPT didn't come to bed till late last night because he was tired of me complaining about how the dining room was messy because of stuff that he'd put there after he got home from deployment, and now the kids can't do their dining room chores. It always comes down to that. hehe. Well, I always find a way to bring it back to that... Anyway, he'd had enough, and finally buckled down and cleaned it up. Well, his part, anyway.

So, when he left for early PT at 5am this morning, and I couldn't fall back asleep, I decided to hop up and go clean up my part of the mess! Aren't you proud of me? Cleaning? What's that! It's usally not in my vocabulary! I must REALLY be branching out! LOL.

First, I did this last night, and it looks fabulous!
Then, I work on my dining room, and it looks SO much better after 2 hours of detailed cleaning! Again, PROUD moment for me - hehe. The kids were happy when they woke up that they could eat breakfast on the table again!
Eme and Me and Jake. Look how we get progressively bigger. LOL.
I worked up until the minute that I walked the kids to the bus. CPT came home sometime in that time frame, too. I chatted with Suzanne at the bus stop for a few minutes, the came back home. CPT and I hung for a few minutes after he was done with PT, then Kari texted and said that hiking was at 8:30am. I texted all the girls to confirm our plans. We were doing hiking at 8:30am and Laser Tag at 12pm. I wasn't so sure about it, but it sounded fun-ish.

I wasn't quite ready when Kari came to get me, so I grabbed my wallet and shoes and socks and all my junk, and ran to her car. She just laughed. How well she knows me :) We picked up Julia and Kim, then off we went to hike in the mountains. And I was so glad that we had Julia with us today. Because I thought that I was gonna die last week. hehe. Julia is still recovering from Surgery, so people HAVE to go easy on her. I'm just getting fluffy. So people try to kick my butt. ROFL!

We did an easy, but long, hike today. It was nice and good. I enjoyed it. Not hard at all. Good, too, because I was getting tired from being up at 5am.

We headed back to post, and stopped by the Youth Center to sign the kids up for Baseball. Unfortunately, I still hadn't turned in Jake and Tom's physicals. So they weren't completely registered. So I couldn't get Tom signed up for Baseball. Sigh. But, I did get Joe and Jim signed up. And Eme want's to play volleyball, which doesn't start until April. So it all works out. I just need to remember to go back and get Tom signed up before the sign-up process is closed! He'd be seriously bummed if he missed it!

We realized that we didn't have time to go home and change or shower before laser tag, so we just dropped Kim off at her house (she wasn't feeling up for laser tag), and picked up Erin, and we headed out. And made a quick jaunt to the Taco Cabana drive thru! And I totally thought of Andrea while I was in line! She LOVES that place. hehe. It was ok. They DID have DDP, though! Oh yeah :)

We headed to the West side, and we each purchased 2 games. And we split into 3 times. Erin was on her own team, the yellow team. Kari and I were on a team. And Julia and Liz (she met us there) were on a team. We had no clue what we were doing. Apparently, you hold the gun a certain way, and a beam of light shoots out, and if it beams your opponents vest lights, then you get a point.

Also, you're trying to put out your opponents "base" light. By shooting it with the "beam". It was pretty fun. I wasn't too sure at first, but I got REALLY into it! I was running, sneaking, shooting, being covert, sniping people from the 2nd level. Oh yeah, I was having a blast!

When we broke after the first game to check our scores, I got the HIGHEST score! Go me!!! The 2nd round, the dude from the store snuck onto Erins team, and we didn't know! We just kept wondering how she was getting SO good at snipering everyone!!!! hehe. We finally figured it out, though.

That was, truly, the most fun that I've had in a SUPER long time. We instantly made plans to come back! And to play 3 rounds instead of only 2. SO much fun! And with a bigger group, I think. We're gonna need to recruit some more girls!

Kari dropped me and Erin off at my house, and Kim came over too. Kim and Kari and Julia and I had talked about solutions to the Jake and his tiny closet room problem. The best solution I'd heard was to create a wall inside of Tom's room. So that it was 2 rooms. Because, with him being Aspergers, and aggressive, he CAN'T share a room. His therapist said that. He'd hurt someone before we could get to him.

And Kim said that she had the knowledge and skills to build the wall! AND, that it would be super easy. And removable, so that when we moved, the house would go back to normal. Double score!!!

Erin and I didn't quite get the vision, but Kim seemed to know what she was talking about. We took her word for it. Erin headed back home, and Kim and I headed off to Lowes. And proceeded to have the WORST Lowes trip in our lives! Usually, Lowes is wonderful. They are helpful and great. Yeah, NOT this time.

It was so bad, that while the worker was helping us in door, some hot little chick walked up looking for hooks, and he stopped what he was doing helping us, helped her, then came back to us. Um, RUDE! So what if we are old ladies with a door! We were there first! She was super embarrassed ,and apologized a few times to us. She knew he was being rude.

We got the 2x4's that we needed, and the dry wall, and the screws, and the pre-hung door, and the door knob, and we went to pay. And someone tried to cut us off in line. Then, we asked for someone to help us out. Cause it was gonna barely fit in our truck. Nope, said the lady. There were 2 - 3 guys in front of us. Guys? I asked. Well, us GIRLS will just have to do it ourselves, I guess....

So we tried to wheel our stuff out the exit, and it was blocked by carts. WHAT THE HECK!!! I had to go and unblock the exit. So not cool! Finally, we made it to the Suburban. And the wind was SUPER strong! I was afraid it was gonna blow the cart away! We tried and tried and tried to get the seats to fold down, but try as we might, we couldn't figure it out!!! We did manage to get the back seats down, but not the middle seats. Sigh. I know there must be some sort of trick...

We tried to get the first double sheet of drywall into the Suburban, and it dropped, Kim tried to save it, but the wind blew it over. And it cracked a little bit. Finally, some nice man saw us, and came to our rescue! THANKS!!!! We would have been there ALL day if not for him! He helped us (it was a 3-4 person task, I think!), and we headed back to post.

We got Kim's kids from their school, then went to my kids' bus stop. Kim headed to her house, and I grabbed mine. We went home, and Kim and kids came over after a few to play. And we unloaded the suburban, and got to work.

We dismantled the bunk bed in Tom's room, and then worked on getting the lengths of boards cut outside. The Skil saw had a dull blade, so we hung out waiting for CPT to get home. Unfortunately, this was the first night that he was 'late'. So we ended up waiting outside for about an hour... But when he got home, he quickly cut away on the lengths of boards with his table saw. Awesome, honey! YOU ROCK!

And then Kim and I set to work. And my me, I mean moral support. And the occasional tool passage. Or nail handage... Yeah, that's about it. I have no skills in woodworking. Or craftsmanship. But the gift of gab? Yeah, got that one - ha!

She got it all framed, then the door squared up. It was pretty late by then, so we each put our kids to bed. I had Tom sleep in Eme's room for the night. Tomorrow, I'll move Jake and Tom's crap into the rooms during the day.

Then, the drywall went up pretty quick.

Kim headed home around 10pm. Or was it 9pm. I don't know. I was so sore and tired. I can't even imagine what she felt like, because she was the one actually working. She was the one with all of the mad skills. I really hope that the boys appreciate their new rooms. Especially Jake. This new room is 6 feet across! SO much better than the Utility closet! I don't know it's dimensions, but it's gotta be better than that, right??!

I sat down to blog, and CPT started working on the boys' and his Pinewood derby cars. And here it is, 11:36pm. And I'm beat. Spent. Run ragged. Totally exhausted. More than ready for bed. Night, you guys! I'll see you in the morning :)

Beautiful Dreamer

So I woke up not planning on going to Savers. I was sleepy, and shooed the kids and hubby out the door. Then sat around doing nothing. And finally checked my texts, and both Kari and Kim wanted to know if I was going. And it was about 5 minutes before we had to go!

I threw on some appropriate-ish clothes, and told the girls to come and help me get my books loaded up in my suburban. They were all boxed up, but needed loaded. They came over and helped. And off we went.

I wasn't looking for anything, so only ended up with $15 worth of stuff. But this was my bEST find of the day. In-line hockey skates for Joe. Cool, huh? And they were 20% off with the coupon! CPT said they were a STEAL!
A Doctor Who cup!!!!! Loved the Van Gogh episode!!! I teared up during it!
Um..... no. It was green tag, though, which made it $0.99. But again, no...
After Savers, we went to the Sunbeam Bakery outlet store to give it a look. We've driven by it on the way home EVERY time we went to Savers, but never stopped. They had decent prices. About the same as the Dollar Tree, but they always have bread at the Bread Outlet store, right? hehe. And more selection. ROFL!

I got a few loaves of Texas Toast and a few loaves of Natures Own wheat. And some Honey Buns 5 for a $1.00. And then, because I spent more than $4, I got a free loaf. It was a good deal.

Then, I dropped the girls off at their houses, and I went home. And CPT came home for lunch. We walked in the door at the same time! We made hamburgers, and ate together. And sat on the back patio and enjoyed the sunshine. It was nice. We got about an hour together before he had to go back to work.

Then, I spent the rest of the time (from 1-3:30) designing. I got all 5 of my Wordart packs designed for the week! Aren't you proud of my... um, yeah, I can't think of the work. Perseverance? Work ethics? Lack of plans for the day? I don't know - hehe. Anyway, I got my work done!

I had Tom go and get the kids from the bus, and all of the kids were home by 4:15pm. We decided to skip the pool, and make plans to go on Tuesday night instead. All of the moms were busy tonight. And we had cleaning to do. I told the kids to CLEAN THEIR ROOMs and do their chores, and I headed off to Big Lots with Kim . I wanted to buy a few hook hangers for my Miche purses. CPT was tired of the bases being under foot. And I wanted them to be hung up somewhere. Made sense to me.

First, though, I dropped off a retired shell or two at Julia's house that she wanted to buy off of me. She ended up with Fiona and Mary. Love them both! And Kim wanted to buy Ebony and um, er, can't remember the other name. I set it aside, though. And Maggie has one claimed too. I have a few more up for grabs. I'm selling off all of my retired ones. So that I can focus more on the current ones! Makes sense, right?

Anyway, Kim and I had a TON of fun at Big Lots. After we looked at ALL there was to look at, we hit the motherload at the checkout line. The girls at the register were JUST marking down a basketfull of crap! And we got first pick!

Boxes of fruit snacks for $0.50 a box (of 10)!!! We split them evenly between us. And BIG bags of pre-popped popcorn for $0.50 a bag. And squeeze jelly for $0.50 a bottle. We use that! I was pretty excited. Here's me with my sack of snacks!
When I got home, CPT had just got home too. Kim and I had stopped at 7-11 and had got DDP's. And I'd gotten one for him too. Cause I love him :)

I walked in the door, and the kids were having an electronics free for all. Chores weren't completely done. And rooms weren't cleaned. Yeah, I quickly took control of the situation. I gathered up all of the electronics, and locked it away in the closet, and wore the key the rest of the night. I'm gonna be wearing it for a while now... Like I used to. Harty kids have been abusing the privilege.

We had frozen pizza for dinner, and all the kids worked to get their chores done. And I started on a re-arrange the bedroom project. CPT had been feeling like he only got a tiny little corner of our room to call his own. And yeah, maybe that was the case. So my goal was to re-arrange so that he would have more of an area to call his own.

It took all evening, but it looked REALLY good when it was done! He had a bookshelf, a desk area, and 1/2 of my couch. Much better!

He worked with the kids on their cleaning tasks, and we even got to do a campfire in the backyard for a bit! The kids really enjoyed it :)

It is now 10:00pm. I'm sleepy. I've gotta go see if my fan will reach the outlet where I have it... Hmmm, I may need a new extension cord for it - drat! I might not be able to sleep tonight without the noise! Wish me luck! CPT is in the dining room cleaning up a mess from when he first got back and moved a bookshelf. I told him to leave it, but he wants it cleaned before his parents get here on Wednesday. I told him that they'll love him the same regardless of a messy house.....

Drat

So, it was a good Sunday. Unfortunately, I realized that Tom needed something for a project, and we didn't have it. CPT when to Walmart late last night after I'd gone to bed, but hadn't gotten the Styrofoam ball that Tom had needed. He had a project due on Saturday.

Anyway, when I woke up on Sunday morning (late, of course, cause that's why we LOVE 12:30 church, RIGHT???), I texted Kim to see if she wanted to go to Walmart with me and SIN. I felt bad. But I had to get the stuff for Tom's project, right? I wanted to go with CPT on Saturday, but he was busy. And he kept saying he was ALMOST done. So I kept putting it off. And off. And off. Until it was 11pm, and I just eventually went to bed.

Anyway, Kim and I went to Walmart, and yeah, they had no Styrofoam balls. They had $16 1/2 balls for flowers. You know, those messy green things. That's not what Tom needed. Walmart was useless. So we went to JoAnns. I called Tom to figure out EXACTLY what he needed. He gave me more direct instructions. He needed paints, and toothpicks (or Popsicle sticks), and tags, and all sorts of stuff. Good thing I called, right? CPT wouldn't have gotten the right stuff, because he didn't have the right info at the time anyway... Even if he had been thinking about Styrofoam balls.

We got home, and CPT told me that he had some work stuff to do at the battery. And he COULD do it after church, but then he wouldn't get to see the family at all. So he'd decided to go during church, and hang with us when we got home. So we all got ready for the day, and headed out at the same time, us to church, and him to work.

The kids were fine at church. I taught Jim's primary class, and he was naughty for me. I wonder if he's naughty for his teacher, too? I hope not... He was kind of a turd.

I was glad when church was done, and we could head back home. We pulled in the driveway JUSt as CPT was getting home from work. Perfect timing. He fired up the grill, and we had hamburgers and hot dogs. And had a family home evening about media choices. Here's the "For the Strength of Youth" pamphlet had to say about it.

E N T E R T A I N M E N T A N D T H E M E D I A
“If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things”
(Articles of Faith 1:13).

Whatever you read, listen to, or look at has an effect on you. Therefore, choose only entertainment and media that uplift you. Good entertainment will help you to have good thoughts and make righteous choices. It will allow you to enjoy yourself without losing the Spirit of the Lord. While much entertainment is good, some of it can lead you away from righteous living. Offensive material is often found in web sites, concerts, movies, music, videocassettes, DVDs, books, magazines, pictures, and other media. Satan uses such entertainment to deceive you by making what is wrong and evil look normal and exciting. It can mislead you into thinking that everyone is doing things that are wrong.
Do not attend, view, or participate in entertainment that is vulgar, immoral, violent, or pornographic in any way. Do not participate in entertainment that in any way presents immorality or violent behavior as acceptable.

Pornography in all its forms is especially dangerous and addictive. What may begin as a curious indulgence can become a destructive habit that takes control of your life. It can lead you to sexual transgression and
even criminal behavior. Pornography is a poison that weakens your self-control, changes the way you see others, causes you to lose the guidance of the Spirit, and can even affect your ability to have a normal relationship with your future spouse. If you encounter pornography, turn away from it immediately. Depictions of violence often glamorize vicious behavior. They offend the Spirit and make you less able to respond to others in a sensitive, caring way. They contradict the Savior’s message of love for one another. Have the courage to walk out of a movie or video party, turn off a computer or television, change a radio station, or put down a magazine if what is being presented does not meet Heavenly Father’s standards. Do these things even if others do not. Let your friends and family know that you are committed to keeping God’s standards. You have the gift of the Holy Ghost, which will give you strength and help you make good choices.

We mostly talked about TV and movie choices. Jake had been saying that he didn't see anything wrong with rated R movies or TV-Ma shows. So we decided to have a Family Home Evening lesson on just exactly what WAS wrong about them. I don't know if it got through or now. To him, anyway. The other kids were listening :)

After Family Home Evening, we watched Journey to the Center of the Earth (the one with Brendan Frezier - or however you spell that) and had a nice family activity. Then, it was time to put kids to bed. Tom worked on his project in the other room on and off during the movie, and finished it up after. Jake took his dog on a walk, and after we got the little kids to bed, I started to blog.

Here it is, 7:55pm, and I'm done blogging. CPT and I might watch a movie tonight together. Tomorrow, the girls and I may go to Savers. Or swimming. Or maybe I'll stay home and have a designing marathon. Heaven knows how much catch up work I need to do! Oh yeah, did I tell you that I made my "Quick Start" goal in Miche for the first 30 days, and that I earned $150 worth of free products???? I'm not sure how all of that works, whether I get to pick it myself, or if it's chosen for me or what, but I think that I get the credit on the 10th of the month. Sa-weet!!! I'm really enjoying it! Wish me luck for my 2nd month! If I make my goals, I get $175 worth of free products!

Heck

First off, a few of you were asking to see what the inside of the Miche purses looked like. So I found a few pictures online. Here ya go! I found pictures for the 3 main sizes. The Petite is SUPER tiny. Just imagine a super small purse. That's it. hehe. It fits a wallet, basically.

And again, click HERE to go to my Miche site :)

Hey there! So, I can remember waking up this morning, and having CPT get out of bed, and starting being noisy. And me thinking, um, HOW RUDE. Him waking me up early on a Saturday.... And he starts calling people (so rude so early, right?), and talking to me. I'm like, what the heck! Then I check my watch. 10am. OK. Maybe not rude. hehe. I'm just sleepy, that's all...

We did some chores, and eventually, everyone was showered and ready to go to Leo's birthday party at noon. Well, everyone who was going to go was ready. CPT and Jake were either not going or coming later. The little kids and I headed one over. It was a good time, too! I hung with my friends, and the kids played. And we stayed all afternoon! CPT eventually came and hung with the guys for a bit. I think he had enough fun. He's not too much of a social guy.

He went home to get some of the garage cleaned, and I stayed and chatted for longer. Around 4pm, the Harty clan eventually came home and left Kari and her family alone. hehe.

We cleaned some more, and organized for a while, and had some dinner. I made cookies in my new mixer (worked really good, too!), and played with my Miche stuff for a while. I got some folders together for parties, my pre-inked stamp came in the mail today, so I stamped my catalogs, I went through me shells and separated out the ones that I wanted to keep from the ones that I wanted to sell. Really, it was a productive night/evening.

CPT was out in the garage cleaning/organizing. I think, towards the end, he was getting tired and frustrated. Because it was such a big project. I think he thought that we should have come out and volunteered to help... And we didn't. Cause it didn't look like fun. We did come and help haul wood out to the backyard for firewood. When he asked us to.

Anyway, it's late now. And I'm gonna get ready for bed. It's almost 10pm. And I feel sick. Like I'm gonna puke sick. Not sure why. But I don't like it. Hopefully it'll pass. I didn't eat well today. Brawt and chips and cake and cookies. And I caffinated drinks. Yeah, that's about it. That's probably why I feel sick, huh? No real food. Sigh. There ya go.
